Notice of Disruptions to Supplies Week Ending 17th Dec.

Notice of Disruption to Supply in Dunmore area @1pm (14.12.10)

There is a major burst on a main in the Dunmore area and the area staff are at present trying to locate it and fix it when found.

Mountbellew Area office has put an notice on Mid-West radio to  inform the public in Dunmore of this.

Notice of Disruption to Supply in Barna/Furbo Areas @1pm (14.12.10)

Galway County Council wishes to advise that due to a burst water main people in the above areas are experiencing no water or low pressure.

This problem is currently being repaired and it is hoped that full supply will return shortly.

Notice of Disruption to Supply Woodford Area (13.12.10 @6.30pm)

Water demand in Woodford has increased by 60%.

The Council will be disrupting supply tonight from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. in order to re-fill the reservoir and ensure continuity of supply.  We apologise for the inconvenience and please conserve water.

Areas supplied by  Rosmuc, Carna/Kilkieran and Roundstone Water Scheme

In order to ensure the continuity of supply on the above Public Supplies we will be shutting off supply from 10.00pm to 08:00am daily until further notice to recover storage levels in the Reservoirs.  Galway County Council will endeavour to ensure disruptions are confined to night-time hours and regrets any inconvenience caused. Consumers are urged to conserve water and ensure no taps are left running unnecessarily to assist in the speedy restoration of full supply.  Consumption on both schemes has risen considerably in the past number of days and the Council urges people to turn off taps and cheak for leaks and bursts especially on autside connections and have them repaired.

Areas Between Tonabrucky and Moycullen and Furrymelia in Barna

Galway County Council wishes to advise that due to current low levels of water in the Tonabrucky Reservoir that consumers between Tonabrucky and Moycullen and parts of Furrymelia East and West in Barna will experience intermittent water loss over the next number of days.  The disruption to supply is necessary in order to conserve water to build up the levels in the reservoir so that normal supply can be restored as soon as possible.  Galway County Council will endeavour to ensure disruptions are confined to night-time hours and regrets any inconvenience caused. Consumers are urged to conserve water and ensure no taps are left running unnecessarily to assist in the speedy restoration of full supply.

Advice on Water Usage

With very low temperatures expected to continue, Galway County Council is again requesting all water users to reduce water use to the absolute minimum.   The Council will continue to monitor the situation closely, and some night-time restrictions may be placed on supplies to conserve water & allow reservoir levels to build.

Unnecessary and excessive water usage will give rise to water shortages.  On the other hand, minimising water demand in the home, business, and around the farm will help to prevent water outage.  Everyone can play their part by ensuring that:

Taps are not left running or dripping
Vacant properties are checked for leaks or bursts, and repairs carried out where necessary.
Businesses, offices, or schools that may have been closed for the holiday period are checked.
Outhouses, field pipes and troughs etc are checked and leaks or bursts repaired.
If farm animals are indoors please shut off field connections to prevent bursts and leaks.
Regular updates will be posted on the Council’s website at www.galwaycoco.ie

Please contact the Water Services Section on 091-476401 with any queries.

Galway County Council wishes to remind all water users on the following water supply schemes that a Boil Water Notice remains in place on these schemes:
