Promotion Of Water Safety Galway County
Galway County Council promotes water safety awareness through its involvement with the County Galway Water Safety Committee, which operates under the direction of the National Safety Council. Water safety courses are normally held during the summer on Inishmore, Inishmaan, Inisheer and at Oughterard, Cornamona, An Cheathrú Rua, Portumna, Loughrea and Salthill beach. Courses are held at Leisureland, Galway on Sunday mornings from October to June.
Beach guards are employed during the Summer bathing season at various locations throughout the County.
