Higher Education Grants 2012/2013
A new ONLINE ONLY grant applications system has been introduced for 2012.
All NEW applications will be made online to a single awarding authority, Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) through
www.studentfinance.ie.
If you are already in receipt of a grant and are progressing to the next year of the same course, your grant will continue to be assessed and paid by Galway County Council.

The closing date for Galway County Council Student Grants has been extended from August 31st 2012 to 4.00pm Friday October 12th 2012.

To ensure payment in September please submit your completed application by the 31st  August 2012

 

N.B. If you have completed your Leaving Cert and are going to attend a 3rd Level Institution you must apply online.

 

If you are applying for a Grant for the First Time or commencing a new course (Undergraduate/Postgraduate)

Galway County Council will not be dealing with your application as it will be dealt with by a new centralised single awarding authority. All new Applications will be made online to a Single Awarding Authority, (SUSI) Student Universal Support Ireland through www.studentfinance.ie.   Also as part of SUSI’s support to students, there is a SUSI Support desk available in the lead up to and following the launch of the online application system for both email and telephone queries.     You can email the SUSI Support Desk at support@susi.cdvec.ie

From the launch date, of the Online Application System, the SUSI Support Desk will be available from 9.00am-10.00pm (Monday-Friday) and 9.00am-6.00pm (Saturdays)

Unfortunately Galway County Council will not be able to deal with queries for students who will be applying to SUSI.

 

If you already have a Grant from Galway County Council

If you are already in receipt of a grant from Galway County Council and you are progressing to the next year of the same course, your grant will continue to be assessed and paid by Galway County Council for the duration of your course, (provided that you pass your exams and are registered at your respective college for the 2012/13 academic year).   You must also continue to advise the Council of any change of circumstances etc.

 

For Students who are on a Provisional/Review Grant with Galway County Council

If you are currently in receipt of a Provisional/Review grant with Galway County Council and you are progressing to the next year of the same course, you will be issued with a new Application Form by the end of June,  –  (following  the publication of the Scheme by the Department),  and asked to re-submit your application to Galway County Council for assessment.
