County Galway Traveller Interagency Group
The purpose of the Group is to coordinate and improve the delivery of services to Travellers at County level. It is a sub group of the Galway County Development Board.
It reports to two Government Departments:
- Traveller Policy Unit of the Department of Justice and Equality
- The Local Government Policy Section of the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government
The current Chairperson of the Group is David Collins from Western Travellers and Intercultural Development. Other membership comes from statutory & community organisations and Traveller representation. The Group is facilitated by the Social Inclusion Unit of Galway County Council.
The Group meets on average 4 times a year and its main focus is to implement and monitor its Traveller Interagency Strategy for County Galway.

Traveller Pride Week 2012 18th - 26th June 2012
Traveller Pride Week is a week to highlight Traveller culture, achievements and issues. Ten events are taking place in the County to celebrate the week including a play in the Bank of Ireland Theatre in NUIG.
The events will showcase the positive aspects of Traveller Culture including their enterprising, sporting, creative and musical abilities. You can download the poster and events leaflet below.
